About Society Organaization
Gudalur Taluk Muslim Orphanage (YathimKhana) Committee was initially formed in the year 1973, but by acquiring lands in 1976 pal by patron moderate prices and reasonable gifts over an extent of 43 acres. It was formed into action in a place called C.H.Nagar (Chembala), Gudalur within the limits of Gudalur Municipality of Gudalur Taluk in the Nilgiris District of Tamil Nadu. The Society framed its own by-law with rules and regulations and it was registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 under Registration No.40/76. The Society submits its report on changing of members of the Association due to death or resignation or otherwise from time to time and also audited statements of Accounts for each financial year to the District Registrar of Chits and Societies, NiJgiris District, Udhagamandalam who has his jurisdiction over the Society. This Society has also been registered under the Tamil Nadu Wakf Act 1954 and has assigned Registration No. 50/NGS. Further we have got registration under Section 12A (a) of the Income Tax Act, 19661 and has been assigned Registration No. 1419(135)98-99/CBE. Income Tax Returns with audited Statement of Accounts and other Statements are filed annually before the Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Ooty. Moreover, this institution has been registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 1976 (Registration No 07S970O89, Dated 28/12/1999). Audited Statement of Accounts and other statements in the prescribed form are sent to the Home Ministry, New Delhi every year. The institution also registered under Juvenile Justice (Law and Protection of Children) Act 2000 No: 14970/CW2/2010.
There are now 114 members in the Society, which forms the General Body. Among them 27 members from the Executive Committee or Working Committee. Monthly meeting of Working Committee is held on the second Wednesday every month. As routine, the Income and Expenditure accounts of the previous month and other all important subject are discussed in such meetings. The meeting of the General Body of the Association is being held at least once in a year.
In the beginning the Society had no capital funds, but being an Orphanage donations are collected from the public. Many philanthropists came forward to help the society in building hostels for the Orphans. In the beginning there were only 40 Orphans in the institution. It gradually developed and few more buildings came up and nowadays this has become a home for the Orphans both Girls and Boys. The Institution also become well-known center of learning. At present the total strength of the inmates is 72 (37 Boys and 35 Girls).Special care and attention is being given for the improvements of the living standards and educational facilities of the inmates.
The Society Maintains the Following Un-Aided Institution
- GTMO CHILDREN HOUSE (BOYS) : Constructed and opened in the Year 1979 having the capacity to accommodate 200 and now 37 Boys are being accommodated. Kitchen, Store Room, Dining Hall, Bath Rooms, Latrines etc., are provided separately.
- GTMO CHILDREN HOUSE (GIRLS) : Opened in the year 1988 having the capacity to accommodate 200 and now 35 Girls are being accommodated. Kitchen, Store Room, Dining Hall, Bath Rooms, Latrines etc., are provided separately.
- GTMO HIGHER SECONDARY MADRASA : was started in the year 1979 with standard I to XII. The present strength is 160 Students and 5 Teachers (Muslims).
- GTMO PRIMARY SCHOOL : It was started in the year 1984 having standards I to V both Tamil and Malayalam Mediums with recognition of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
- GTMO MATRICULATION HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL : It was started in the year 1989 as an English Medium Primary School and upgraded as Matriculation Higher Secondary School in the year 1999 with recognition of Government of Tamil Nadu. The total strength is 1200 pupils and 40 teachers. Classes from LKG to XII standard are being conducted.
- GTMO HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL : It was started in the year 1984 as a Middle School has upgraded as High School in the year 2000-2001 having classes from VI to X Standard in both Tamil and Malayalam medium. In the year 2005-2006 the School was again upgraded as Higher Secondary School. The School got recognition from Tamil Nadu State Government from the initial stage itself. The present Strength is 320.25 teaching and non-teaching staff are serving in the school.
- GTMO TAILORING INSTITUTE : It was started in the year 1995. Training in tailoring, embroidery and needle works is being given to them under a tutor. The trainees get Govt. recognized certificates after completing the course. Now the total Strength is 45 trainees and an Instructor.
- GTMO COMPUTER CENTRE : It was started in the year 2001-2002 as a Computer Lab for our Schools and now there are two teachersand15Computers.
- GTMO HOSPITAL : A Hospital is functioning at Gudalur Bazaar with minimum facilities for the welfare of the poor and the needy. Operation theatre, X-Ray, Scanning, Lab facilities are available in the Hospital.
SCHEMES
- ORPNANS WELFARE SCHEME : Every month the management deposit Rs 300 (Three hundred) in the individual Bank Account of Orphans those who are studying in the home. After completion of +2 Class and then they leave the home it may hand over to them.
- ORPHANS MARRIAGE SCHEME : After the completion of the higher secondary education and attained marriage age, the management will be provide Gold Ornaments for the worthy of Rs.2,50,000/- (Two lakes fifty thousand) when their marriage is fixed. So far 174 orphan girls benefitted by this scheme and we have to assist some more girl marriage in future.
- HIGHER EDUCATION SCHEME : The orphans those who successfully completing +2 course and applied for higher education in any institutions and get seat in merit basis will be assisted by the management. By this scheme so many orphan student benefitted completing B.E., B.Sc. (Nursing) B.A, B.P.Ed and D.P.Ed, B.sc Dialyses, B Pham, BBA CA. courses in various educational institutions. Some of the students completed Islamic Education such as Afsalul-Ulama, Faizy Wafy degrees.
Government officials from education, Social Welfare, SocietiesRegistration, Wakf Board, Income Tax and other concerned Departmentsare taking up periodical and annual inspection of the above institutions.This area is dominated by the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes andother Backward Classes. As such the majority of the Students in ourSchools are from these Backward Classes.
The main source of Income for the smooth running of the Orphanage,Schools and Training Units are the whole hearted donations in cash andkinds and sincere supports of Well-Wishers and Philanthropists. Eventhough the Society posses 43 Acres of land, only 30 acres has becomesource of income by Tea Plantation. The rest of the land is laying waste.The Society is not in receipt of any grant or financial assistance from theState or Central Government.
